Apple Pan Dowdy

Delicious local apples & rhubarb topped with a decadent biscuit topping!

    8 cups apples, sliced
    2 cups rhubarb, chopped
    ¾ cup water

Stew in a pot until hot.

    1 cup honey, add to fruit

Put in a 4-quart baking dish (glass or pottery).

Biscuit Topping :
    2 cups flour (white or whole wheat or mix)
    ¼ cup shortening
    ½ teaspoon salt
    3 teaspoons baking powder

Cut shortening into dry ingredients.

    ¾ cup water
    ¼ cup honey
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1½ teaspoons cinnamon
    ¼ teaspoon cloves

Mix well. Add to dry ingredients and mix with a fork until all dry ingredients are moist. Cover
apples with dots of biscuit mix.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until toothpick in biscuit comes out clean.
